Westwood Public Schools in Massachusetts receives a $5,055,655 check!

WESTWOOD, Mass., May 2025 — On May 30, 2025, Westwood Public Schools in Massachusetts celebrated the receipt of a $5,055,655 reimbursement check for a ground-source heat pump installed at the new Pine Hill Elementary School. This highly-efficient system, which provides affordable and reliable heating and cooling for the building, qualified for energy tax credits through a funding mechanism called Elective Pay.

After completing the project in May 2024, the district partnered with tax firm Energy Tax Savers (ETS) to prepare their IRS filing, which was submitted on September 9, 2024. The technology qualified for a $4.8 million reimbursement, plus $174K in interest - bringing their total reimbursement to $5.05 million.
