BARDSTOWN, KY., APRIL 2026 — Bardstown Independent School District in Kentucky celebrated the receipt of a $2.5 million reimbursement for ground-source heat pumps installed at Bardstown Polytechnic (a new CTE learning facility) and a middle school. The project qualified for federal energy tax credits through a funding mechanism called Elective Pay.
The HVAC upgrade was completed as part of a Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract (GESC) with Kentucky-based engineering and performance contracting firm CMTA, Inc. This first phase converted an elementary school into the Polytechnic school and installed a shared ground-source heat pump system with Bardstown Middle School.
The renovations were completed in August 2024. The district submitted its filing on March 4, 2026 and received $2,485,704 on April 21, 2026.
A high school renovation project involving ground-source heat pumps is the next phase of the GESC.
