Warren County Public Schools in Kentucky receives a $1,736,842 check!

Bowling Green, KY., February 23, 2026 — Warren County Public Schools (WCPS) received a $1,736,842 reimbursement check from the IRS for installing ground-source heat pumps at Briarwood Elementary School and the district’s Central Office.

Ground-source heat pumps are eligible for energy tax credits through a funding mechanism known as Elective Pay. WCPS partnered with CMTA Inc., a design and engineering firm to design and install the ground-source heat pumps as part of a broader effort to modernize the district’s facilities to meet the demands of a rapidly growing student population.

WCPS has five additional facilities in construction or design that will feature ground-source heat pumps.

The district partnered with Ryan Tax Firm to file for the two ground-source heat pump projects in April 2025 and received a check for $1,736,842 ($830,941 for Briarwood Elementary School and $905,901 Central Office) on February 23, 2026.
