The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center Opens Second Round of Green School Works Funding
On December 2nd, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) began accepting proposals for school clean energy projects through the Green School Works grant program—a significant opportunity for Massachusetts schools or district to receive funding for healthier, more resilient learning environments. This is the program’s second round of funding. In June, MassCEC awarded $52 million in grants to 18 schools.
The design of the funding encourages schools to strongly consider ground-source heat pump projects, a smart move considering Massachusetts schools can still access non-competitive, uncapped federal funding for ground-source heat pumps through 2034.
Key Program Details:
Funds will be awarded to projects at various stages of planning or construction and grants will range from $50,000 to $5 million.
Applicants with a higher percentage of students from low-income families will be prioritized, although all public K-12 schools are now eligible to apply.
Proposals are due by February 13th.
