Applications Now Open — California Youth Climate Policy Leadership Program Cohort 4

The California Youth Climate Policy Leadership Program (CYCP) is returning for its fourth year! Applications are now open for student participants (incoming 9-12th graders) and adult mentors across California.

The program - a partnership between Ten Strands, UndauntedK12, and the Sierra Club San Francisco Bay Chapter - empowers youth to take climate policy action into their own hands. Throughout the experience, participants learn about climate change, policy, advocacy, and coalition building, applying their knowledge and skills to lead a campaign to improve climate policy in their school district.

Along the way, students receive mentoring from adult coaches and support to develop a personal leadership plan and advocacy campaign, and upon completion of the program, they are eligible to receive a $500 stipend.

Key dates:

  • Student applications are due April 30, 2026

  • Applicants will be notified in mid-June

  • Program runs July 2026 – January 2027

Visit the CYCP website to learn more about the program and read student case studies from Cohort 3.
