The district partnered with Nova Consultants, Inc (Engineering), Homeland Solar (Contractor/Install) and Gilbane Building Co. (Program Manager) on the projects.
After completing the project in 2023, the district partnered with Baker Tilly US, LLP to prepare their IRS filing, which was submitted in November 2024. The district anticipated a $518,796 reimbursement, between $120,641 and $137,870 for each of the four solar energy systems installed. On Oct 7, 2025 the district received a check for $572,990.58 which included interest.
The $572,000+ will be reinvested back into the district via critical repairs, updates, and new facilities. These projects are part of Ann Arbor Public Schools’ Environmental Sustainability Framework, adopted in 2022, designed to enhance and support healthy and sustainable school campuses, provide a healthier learning environment for students, and advance environmental and climate literacy
