Manchester Public Schools in Connecticut receives $5,005,481 in energy tax credits!

MANCHESTER, CT.,–Manchester Public Schools celebrated the receipt of two checks totaling $5,005,481 for ground-source heat pumps and solar energy systems installed at Bowers Elementary and Keeney Elementary Schools

Bowers reopened in August 2023 as Manchester Public Schools’ second Net Zero Energy school following a comprehensive renovation led by TSKP Studio, in partnership with design and engineering firm CMTA Inc., and construction firm O&G Industries. 

The renovation of Keeney Elementary followed a similar pathway, reopening in August 2024 as the district’s third verified Net Zero Energy school. 

The solar panels and ground-source heat pumps installed at both schools qualify for energy tax credits through a funding mechanism known as Elective Pay. The district partnered with CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) to file for the tax credits for both schools.

Energy Tax Credits for Keeney Elementary School: The district received a $2,543,454 reimbursement ($2,169,535 for the ground-source heat pumps, and $373,919 for the solar panels) on December 16, 2025.

Energy Tax Credits for Bowers Elementary School: The district received a $2,462,047 reimbursement (1,965,893 for the ground-source heat pumps, $260,447 for the solar panels, and $235,708.25 in interest) on February 10, 2026.
