Center Grove Community School District in Indiana receives a $970,132 check!
CENTER GROVE, IN., JULY 2025–Center Grove Community School District celebrated the receipt of a $970,132 check for solar energy systems installed at Maple Grove and Center Grove Elementary Schools, and the district’s Emergency Operation Center.
The solar arrays are part of a Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract (GESC) with CMTA Inc., a design and engineering firm that partnered with the district to modernize its facilities and reduce energy costs. Through this contract, CMTA identified opportunities to install ground-source heat pumps and 4.7MW of solar across several district sites, optimize controls, and upgrade building automation systems.
The solar panels and ground-source heat pumps qualify for federal energy tax credits through a funding mechanism known as Elective Pay.
In July 2025, the district received $970,132 in reimbursements for the first three solar arrays and anticipates approximately $3.5 million in additional reimbursements for the ground-source heat pumps, as well as solar arrays at several other schools.
Superintendent Dr. William Long, CMTA Project Manager Carson Stewart, and Undaunted’s Co-Founder Sara Ross presented on the funding strategies and outcomes of the project during the 2026 Green Schools Conference.
