Schools can earn tax credits for clean energy projects - something that the private sector and households have been able to do for years. These technologies can improve aging facilities, lower operating costs, and make schools healthier for students.
While the July 2025 federal budget reconciliation law introduced new changes to many of the tax credits available to schools, checks from the IRS are continuing to arrive in the mailboxes of districts nationwide.
Palouse School District in Washington receives a $27,921 check!
Palouse School District celebrated the receipt of a $27,921 reimbursement check for installing a 100 kW solar energy system at Palouse High School. The district partnered with Apollo Solutions Group, an Energy Services Company (ESCO) on the project.
Springfield Public Schools in Missouri receives a $4,129,879 check!
Springfield Public Schools in Missouri received $4,129,879.26 from the IRS for installing ground-source heat pumps at Carver Middle School, Sequiota and Disney Elementary Schools. The district partnered with engineering and performance contracting firm Veregy to pursue a Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contract (GESPC) on the projects.
Branson Public Schools in Missouri receives two checks for $4M!
Branson Public Schools in Missouri received over $4M in energy tax credits for ground-source heart pumps installed at Branson High School and the Cedar Ridge Primary, Elementary, and Intermediate school campus. These projects are part of Branson Public Schools’ Facilities Master Plan, developed in partnership with engineering and performance contracting firm Veregy.
Pulaski County Schools in Kentucky receives a $1,838,267 check!
Pulaski County schools received $1.8 million in energy tax credits for the installation of ground-source heat pumps at new Oak Hill and Shopville Elementary Schools. The work was completed by CMTA, a Louisville-based construction and engineering firm, as part of a guaranteed energy savings performance contract.
Upper Dublin School District in Pennsylvania receives a $1,418,590 check!
Upper Dublin School District received $1.42 million in energy tax credits for installing ground-source heat pumps at the renovated Fort Washington Elementary School after severe storms damaged its facilities. The district partnered with CMTA, ICS, and Energy Tax Savers to complete the project.

On October 4th, Greenbrier County Schools and CMTA held a ribbon cutting to celebrate GCS' installation of the largest district-owned solar array in West Virginia.
