Palouse School District in Washington receives a $27,921 check!

PALOUSE, WA., September 2025 – Palouse School District serving 170 students in eastern Washington celebrated the receipt of a $27,921 reimbursement check for installing a 100 kW solar energy system at Garfield-Palouse High School. The solar panels provide low-cost electricity to the building and qualify for energy tax credits through a funding mechanism called Elective Pay.

The district partnered with Apollo Solutions Group, an Energy Services Company (ESCO) and division of Apollo Mechanical Contractors, to pursue the project via an Energy Services Performance Contract.

After completing the project in April 2024, the district worked with the NorthEast Washington Educational Service District 101 to secure tax filing services from Giraffe Financial. Giraffe provided tax filing services for free through Washington State Department of Commerce’s Federal Clean Energy Tax Assistance Program (CETCAP).

After submitting their filing on July 8, 2025, the district received a $27,921 check for the solar energy system 58 days later on September 4, 2025.

The $357,222 project was completely funded by the tax credit and grants. The school received $188,874 from the Washington State Department of Commerce, $150,000 through TransAlta’s Energy Technology Fund, and $27,921 in federal reimbursement from the IRS.
